Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University advanced to the semifinals of the Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer tournament, defeating St. Gregory's 7-0 at Stars Field on Friday night.
Damon Ellis, a freshman from Chester-Le-Street, England, led the Stars offense with four of the seven goals and an assist in the match. Ellis was accompanied by Scott Jackson, a senior from Edmond, Okla., who had the other three goals plus an assist for the Stars.
Luke Garvey, a junior from Liverpool, England, posted two assists in the match. Tyler Vaughn, a senior from Oklahoma City, and Stephen Sheffield, from Jacksonville, Texas, rounded out the Stars' offense with two assists.
The Stars, ranked second in the NAIA, improved to a 17-1-1 record. OCU's semifinal match will be 6 p.m. Monday vs. USAO at Stars Field.
“We had a very good performance tonight,” OCU coach Brian Harvey said. “We started out well and played at a good pace. This will help to set us up for Monday's game.”
The Stars played tight defense, only allowing seven shots in the match. Goalkeeper, Andy Fitzpatrick, a junior from Kansas City, Mo., had two saves in the match as well.
